I'm not an economist, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once so here's my solution to this crisis.

STOP WATCHING TELEVISION! TURN OFF YOUR CAR RADIO! If you can't cut the cable, at least work at it gradually.

Try this: watch your favorite network news or cable news network and listen for news about a recent abduction, someone missing, an elderly person wandering far from home or something similar. Watch for other depressing news like floods and tornadoes or a train wreck. These kinds of things are happening and can be just as depressing as anything the current recession is giving you.

As soon as you see a "poll" scroll across the bottom of the screen, a Viagra commercial or a 1-800 number, change channels. If you see another "poll", change it again. Do this as many times as necessary to navigate your way to something worthy of your attention. If you should happen to go all the way around to Oprah before that occurs, then shut off the television and go outside.

Take a deep breath and do something productive like take out the trash or clean the garage. Check on your elderly neighbor, rake leaves or something. Do your part to end this recession. You will be better for it, so will your country.
